Inspired by her mother, Ethel Goldblatt, an accomplished watercolorist and sculptor, Janis has returned "full-steam ahead" to her artistic passions while continuing her practice in psychology where she also coaches other creative individuals to maintain and enhance their motivation, inspiration and creative juices.

In the past several years, Janis has devoted her endeavors to painting watercolors. "I love the process of creating in watercolor and attempt to infuse a subjective response, sensitivity, and emotional/expressionistic quality to my art which is derived from the beauty of nature. Colorado, the East coast where I grew up, my golden retrievers and a love of the outdoors contribute deeply to my work."

Janis earned a minor in Art at SUNY Plattsburgh back in the 70's and continued her art and studies at the Rocky Mountain School of Art, Metro State College, University of N. Colorado, and Life drawing classes with other professional artists. She has taken workshops with notable artists including Victor Issa, Karen Ramsay, Bruce Cohen, Najim Chechen; while also studying independently, approaches by John Pike and Zoltan Szabo.

In addition to her membership with AANC, she is also associated with the Northeast Watercolor Society of which her mother was a charter member. Janis has shown and sold her work in Colorado and on the East coast in both open and juried exhibitions. As a strong supporter of the arts, she has donated work to the Alzheimer's Association, Hospice, The Mile High Golden Retriever Club, The Loveland Invitational Sculpture Show, and The Greeley Chorale. Janis is devoted to contributing portions of her proceeds to both Cancer Research and The Arts.
