Grace was introduced to pastels at an early age by her parents, who were professional artists, and has studied and worked in the medium throughout her life. She paints a variety of subjects in an impressionistic style, with an emphasis on the effect of light and color. Landscapes, flowers, animals (especially birds), and portraits are often the inspirations for her paintings. Many of Grace’s landscapes of Colorado and Utah are plein air paintings.
What motivates Grace to paint is the desire to capture and preserve the feeling or impression of an interesting image at the moment of her emotional connection. She uses strong design elements in her compositions to draw viewers into the scene - so those who see her paintings will feel that they can step into the picture for a moment.
Recent recognition of her work includes 1st Place – 2005 Pastel & Graphite, 2006 Founder’s Award and 2008 People’s Choice Award in the national juried Lines Into Shapes Exhibition in Estes Park, Colorado; the juried 15th National Art Exhibition and Sale (NCAA), the juried 43rd Annual National Greeley Art Exhibition & Sale, the juried 2006 Englewood Arts National Juried Art Show, 1st Place Pastels (2006) and 4th Place (2005) NCAA Capture the County Shows, Fort Collins, Colorado, and honorable mentions in both of the 2006 Northern Colorado Artist Association’s Celebration of Color Show and First Annual Juried Small Paintings Show.
She is a signature member of the Pastel Society of Colorado and a member of the Northern Colorado Artists Association. Grace became a member of Trimble Court Artisans (Fort Collins, Colorado) in April 2008.
